In the financial world, I see people talk about revenue vs. bookings. What is the difference?

Booking would be the ‘future’ sales for a company. A company could take expected orders from customers for future dated sales. As these customers place actual sales orders, the booking for each customer would be reduced. Revenue would be recognized once a ‘booking’ is turned into an actual sales order.

Typically businesses that sell big-ticket, long lead time items (i.e. aircraft, solar cell furnaces) deal with an order book to help predict future revenue.

Please use official IRS figures, and please back up your figures with good websites or other credible information. Thus, not Wikipedia.

No Wikipedia, no answers !*

I need some information on the following topics:
What does the organizational chart look like?
What’s the guest cycle?
Reservations.
Registration process.
Communication with other departments.
Security procedures.
Accounting procedures.
Check-out procedures.
Communication with housekeeping.
Audit process.
Revenue management.
Human Resources procedures.
I’m aware the information is different for each hotel.

Wow, that is way too much to answer and each hotel has a completely different set of procedures for each of these things.

Yes they CAN garnish any amounts being paid to you for owing back taxes. It is most likely they WILL garnish your pension because it is coming from the government and this payment will be attached to your SIN within the government database, as are taxes.

the irs website updated today and it said my tax refund was suppose to be deposited on 1/23/09 and if it wasn’t to call by 1/28/09 and so i called the 18003043107 to check for offsets and that is when i learned it had been. I just want to know how long it takes the state to deposit after they have gotten their money. Which turns out to be only $100 that i forgot about, so it is my fault for not taking care of my business.
On the Louisiana Dept of Revenue website it says that it will take 28 days for me to get my refund is that accurate-in real dire need
just in case someone else is having the same problem i contacted the offset treasury department and the lady said that is not true all transactions are done on the same day so the $100 will be sent to the state and the treasury will send out the rest of my refund-hope this saves someone from waiting on the phone for an our to get an answer from the state and the irs

Yes I had an Offset and it took 3 days for my refund to be deposited, from my original deposit date. They take the debt first. You should get a letter also.

Federal tax revenues are higher than they were, higher than at any point in history, higher than the CBO projected they would be with the tax cuts, and higher than the CBO projected they would be without the tax cuts. And the Fed has been restrictive, which means it’s not the temporary effect of monetary policy – in fact monetary policy is working AGAINST growth of GDP and the tax base.

Yes we have a deficit and that’s a problem but it results from INCREASED SPENDING, for which BOTH parties are to blame.

And given the increase in revenue, it’s possible that a tax RATE hike would CUT revenue.

How can ANYONE be against making the tax cuts permanent now that they’ve proven to pay for themselves?

It seems to me that this is wishful thinking. It’s far more likely that the increased SPENDING has caused the rise in government collections, as the increased spending, of course, translates into more money pumped into the economy and thus higher incomes for corporations and individuals. Of course, the increase in spending doesn’t cause sufficient increase in revenue to offset the total amount of deficit being created, thus the federal deficit is mushrooming.

It is also interesting to blame BOTH parties for the increase in spending when the Republicans have been in charge of both Congress and the Presidency for some time.

I’ll be happy to vote to make the tax cuts permanent when it is shown that they can be sustained while we address the massive debt burden we are imposing on our children.

Hi,
I have started a small business, but to get some revenue through ads, I need to get people active and such. How do I do that, also, does anyone know of a site that will allow direct advertisers, so I can make some small cash to pay some expenses?

Thanks!

Start with ads from search engines then work your way up to advertisers because they won’t come unless you have lots of web traffic and trust me they know there is rankings for that.

Early this year we will launch the world’s first pay-for-performance recruiting, career management and staffing (~140 billion US revenues) marketplace, where each participant in the collaborative value network earns commission in direct proportion to their performance and the performance of others.

I’d like to meet a vast array of people that want to make a difference in others lives and prosper in the process.

K

what does it entail? thanks!

For Canadian tax purposes, generally only donations to Canadian registered charities (or other qualified donees) may be used to reduce an individual’s personal income tax.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) administers a system to register charities under the Income Tax Act. As the regulator of charities, the CRA’s responsibilities include:

* processing applications for registration;
* offering technical advice on operating a charity;
* handling audit and compliance activities; and
* providing general information to the public.

Registration provides charities with exemption from income tax. Registration also authorizes charities to issue official donation receipts for income tax purposes, meaning that donors can claim gifts made to registered charities to reduce their income tax.

The CRA determines that an organization qualifies for registered status if its purposes and activities fall within the legal concept of charity (set out by the courts) and it meets the other requirements of the Income Tax Act.

Registered charities must fit into one of four categories of charitable purposes:

* the relief of poverty;
* the advancement of education;
* the advancement of religion; or
* other purposes that benefit the community in a way the courts have said are charitable.

Non-profit organizations are organizations in the community with worthwhile purposes that are not considered charitable by the courts. For example, organizations such as non-profit social clubs and advocacy groups do not generally meet the legal definition of charity and therefore do not qualify for registration.

The Charities Directorate is an organizational subdivision of the CRA. Officers in the Charities Directorate review all applications for charitable status. Charities Directorate officers can also monitor organizations that already have charitable status. In order to apply for registered status, an organization must tile Form T2050, Application to Register a Charity Under the Income Tax Act.

Once it is registered, an organization must:

* devote its resources to charity;
* continue to meet the other requirements of registration; and
* file Form T3010, Registered Charity Information Return, within six months of the organization’s year-end. (Part of the return is available to the public on request.)

If it does not meet these obligations, the charity may lose its registered status.

There is a lot of information available on the CRA website listed below. Of particular assistance is form T4063, which is a guide to completing Form T2050.

I would estimate that it will take a minimum of 6 months to register a charity but it can take significantly longer than that if you don’t have everything in order in your application or if CRA has concerns about the registration application.

Other revenue supporting departments include engineering, operations, marketing, and customer service.

Typically anyone not classified as ‘General & Administrative’ can in one way or another call itself a revenue center.
