Florida probably has the highest, but which has the lowest?

Nebraska

Ok, so I have two W-2 forms. When I add one of them it says I get money back from my state tax return. But when I add the other it says I owe taxes… I also remember receiving a letter from the Oregon Revenue and it said they were going to garnish my wages (unpaid ticket) from my old job but I don’t work there anymore. Which is the W-2 when I added says I owe taxes. So does this mean they took out money from my state tax return to pay off my debt with the Oregon State Revenue?

the garnishment notice has to catch up to you
and by all means file all your w-2’s with your original return, don’t piecemeal your returns

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming don’t have income tax. So how do they make up for the revenue they would have generated?

Alaska has the kickbacks from the oil industry through the Permanent Investment Fund. Part of the profits are distributed to Alaskans every year, so Alaska has a sort of a negative tax based purely upon head count. (This is probably the best example of pure Socialism in the US today. Go figure, listening to Sarah Palin’s rants about Socialism!)

Florida and Nevada depend upon tourism dollars. They also have sales and property taxes that are on the high side.

The others have high sales taxes and typically have very high property taxes. TX property taxes can easily run as high as 5% of FMV every year in and around the major cities. TX used to make a lot of money from the oil industry but that market collapsed in the mid 1980s and has never fully recovered. Property tax rates have sky-rocked in TX since then.

Don’t forget TN and NH. Both have high property taxes. NH property taxes are even higher than TX property taxes. NH also makes money by selling alcoholic beverages in state-owned stores. (Another example of Socialism, by the way.)

I did new busness registration on line 3 weeks ago ..i got corporation number and EIN… I need certificate of authority nj sales tax business registration certificate.. ( that certificate i have to display at business location, ) How do i get it..???? i have not received yet… please advice..

sales tax? did you apply to your state dept for that activity?

not that I am complaining, but we owe the irs, we have been on a paymnt plan with them where they take money out of our account every single month. says that the check will be mailed on May 30th. Are we really going to get one owing back taxes? or is this just a standard letter that goes out to everyone before they actually mail them?

The Letter you received from the IRS was to inform you how much Stimulus payment you qualified for. The IRS is required by law to apply Stimulus payment first to any outstanding tax liability, then to any other defaulted federal debt, like student loans, and any back child support. If only the fact that you have an outstanding tax liability then the IRS will apply the Stimulus payment there. If any money is left after the tax liability is paid in full the IRS will mail you a check for the balance. You can visit www.irs.gov or call the IRS at (800) 829-1040 to confirm my answer.

this is, would total revenue increase, decline, or remain unchanged
a) price falls and demand is inelastic
b) price rises and demand is elastic
c) price rises and supply is elastic
d) price rises and supply is inelastic
e) price rises and demand is inelastic
f) price falls and demand is elastic
g) price falls and demand is of unit elasticity

Total revenue would increase in (c), (d), (e), and (f); decrease in (a) and (b); and remain the same in (g).

Yes the Congress does, and you know very well what my party affiliation is.

It seems smokers are getting the last laugh while your property taxes go up to replace that tax revenue. OUCH!

They have reduced expendatures for roads and bridges, police and other services while they have increased taxes in fuels and things like excessive taxes on telephone lines, "airport fees",alcohol and a bunch of other ways to produce revenue without providing anything in return.

Funny, the same numbers of people are still dying of the same causes as well.

federal, state gasoline tax revenue is way down
we need this money to fix our roads and bridges
we need othe ideas to raise taxes another way
we can tax car tires, motor oil, auto insurance
any better ideas?
I was thinking about taxing TV’s, TV cable service, beer, salty snacks such as potato chips, and Lazy-Boy recliner chairs

Tax everything that is bad for our health and we do not need.
Alcohol, Cigarettes, Soda, Candy etc…

Take taxes off everything we need.

I’m trying to find a ranked list of US States by tourism revenue. Can someone help direct me to a good spot?

Conact each state or check each state’s website.
