Taxes: Car registration. Property Taxes, The Lottery. Toll payments. Park Entrance fees. It all depends on your State. Speeding tickets?

I work at a sewage treatment plant

The State’s and City’s are desperate for funds in this recession but they continue to dump Billions of dollars into sports teams and stadiums, which are funded to begin with by tax dollars and state/city revenue (Classic rip off is Maryland’s Stadium Authority). Why does no one want to address this issue?

You are so right and all of the universities and community colleges are screaming poverty while spending more on sports than on educational programs.~

If you direct deposit your federal and state refunds into a bank checking account, does the IRS and state revenue keep your banking information on file and release it to other parties?

ALL of the information on your tax return is treated as Confidential information. Nobody has access to it without either your express written permission or an order from a court of competent jurisdiction.

This way each state can raise and spend the revenue it needs without any Federal strings.
Federal government would be smaller.
Do you have a better suggestion to save this much money?

Congress should be helping hardworking Americans to stay in their homes, to have access to affordable healthcare, to have fair and safe working conditions, and to have clean air and clean water. Congress should be helping vets get access to the best medical and/or mental health care that they may need. Congress should be seeing to it that every single American child never goes hungry, and has access to both quality healthcare and a quality education.

Instead, the government has put a gun to the heads of every man, woman, and child in this country and is planning to steal a trillion dollars of taxpayers’ hard-earned money and just giving it away to the ultra-rich bankers and other THIEVES that have caused our present economic crisis.

We, the people, should shout from every rooftop in the United States, "NO!!!" We should shout and shout and shout until even our dim-witted representatives in Washington and all their corporate cronies know that we will not stand by and let our economy be highjacked any longer…nor will we let our tax-dollars be stolen by this big rip-off, the so-called "bail out."

Ultimately, the real question is whether Americans are going to stand by and let their children’s and grandchildren’s futures be stolen by their government to pay the salaries of those corporate criminals who have wounded this nation far worse than 9/11 ever did.

See the link below and tell your representatives NO to any bail out that doesn’t bail out American workers and their families first and foremost before all the super-rich Wall Street fat cats.

Yes, I tried it for the first time this year. I filed last Wednesday. Today is the following Tuesday. I called the office this morning and they said my refund is scheduled to be direct deposited on Wednesday (tomorrow). That would make it one week for a direct-deposit refund as estimated . They provide a refund time estimator during the last steps.

I hope it actually goes through as promised.

I’d say give it a try and call them at 1-800-829-1954 with any questions.

In what year did the United States Department of Revenue first provide tax forms and booklets in Adobe PDF format on its Web site?
The Question came out of Discovering Computers Living in a Digital World Fundamentals 2010 Edition so either you are all wrong or the book is wrong!!!!!

PDFs were first offered by the IRS (and some states, the MA DOR for one) on CD in the late 90’s and became available on the website about the same time. Only a few, at first, and they were merely images of the form; you had to print them first and fill in by hand . As they became more popular, the IRS began offering the forms in a fill and print format; though not all are available this way yet.

Exactly how are we wrong?

There is no US Dept of Revenue. As stated it is the US Treasury and the working arm is the Internal Revenue Service. As you can see by the search for the dept. of revenue, the primary hit is the IRS

And I remember ordering the CDs from the IRS in the late 90’s (’98 or ‘99) and finding some of the forms on their website around the same time (’99 or ‘00). As time went on, the site contained more and more form until it had all the forms the CD had so the IRS discontinued offering it.
As you can see by this link, the IRS has forms in PDF going back to 1980.
