Will the State of Ohio really allow casino revenue to cover taxes?
07.October, 2009
I keep hearing the argument that casino revenue will cover the income, sales and property taxes for everyone in the State of Ohio. Does anyone seriously believe this will be the case? Why would the government keep taxes the same and take advantage of the extra income?
I meant to say ‘Why WOULDN’T the government keep taxes the same and take advantage of the additional income?
They might…I live in New Jersey and the casinos here do not seem to help the area that they are in.
In Atlantic city the hotels are beautiful the beach looks lovely…and it is all surrounded by ghetto…
They are all about profit for themselves and seem to add to crime.
it says explain each of the following methods the stae has of raising revenue tell which two you believe to be the most effective and fair and why.
Sales
income
sin
fees
gas
death
jock
gambling
i don’t know what to write cause i dont really get how revenue works. just some example would be helpful
thanks
THis is how the government gets the money it needs to run…Pay salaries, light the streets, pave the streets, police, fire etc.
The items you have listed are all types of taxes. sin taxes refers to taxes on things like alcohol and tobacco
gambling refers to taxes on casinos, state run lotteries etc
good luck

Which state generates the most revenue in Australia?
30.September, 2009
New South Wales.
I have a question for the State of Oregon Revenue.?
28.September, 2009
Why do you tax a people on taxes refunded , for the same year from the Federal Government. Why are you taxing the people by raiseing the gas price to unaffordable levels.
And don’t tell me it’s for road work…Oregonians are’nt that stupid!
Do you really think the State of Oregon is going to reply to you on here?
Who is the Largest Tax Predator? IRS or State Revenue?
26.September, 2009
New develoment the media avoids to inform US citizens about, American Predators at the helm.
You are not thinking outside of the box my simple one. The largest "tax predator" by far is the liberal left of this country who will tell us how to live our lives and fund anything that is politically correct. The IRS and state revenue departments are symptoms not causes.
Economics-What is the largest component of federal revenue?
24.September, 2009
What is the largest single component of federal revenue?
A. import taxes
B. taxes from state revenues
C. corporate taxes
D. individual income tax
From the 2007 federal revenue report:
Individual income taxes: $1.163 trillion
Corporate income taxes: $370 billion
social security taxes: $824 billion
unemployment taxes: $41 billion
other payroll tax sources: $4 billion
federal exise taxes: $65 billion
federal estate taxes: $26 billion
federal customs charges: $26 billion
other federal revenues: $47 billion
The "other" categories include sources that are too small to report seperately and include things like fees, tax penalties, interest on late taxes, returns on investments held in fiduciary funds, etc.
How does NH gain revenue to fund state run services when they don’t have a state income or sales tax?
22.September, 2009
Taxes that go to the state:
1 – Corporate income taxes.
2 – Lodging and Meals taxes (read: sales tax on hotels, motels, etc. and restaurant meals).
3 – Interest income taxes. An individual pays a flat 5% on interest income above $2,400 and a couple above $4,800.
4 – Tolls on I-95.
Taxes that stay in the town in which you live (to fund, in descending order: schools, roads, capital expenditures (fire trucks, town hall, etc.), police, fire, library, and then a whole host of much smaller expenditures):
1 – Property taxes (this is, by far, where almost all of the money to run the cities and towns of NH comes from).
2 – Motor vehicle registration fees.
3 – Building permits.
4 – And a bunch of miscellaneous stuff that raises almost no revenue whatsoever (library fees, concealed carry permits, etc.)
Where Kitty is wrong:
1 – Vehicle registration fees are quite reasonable and over 90% of it stays in the town in which you live and doesn’t even go to the state. It’s so much cheaper than when I lived in CA that it’s unbelieveable.
2 – Property taxes are considered high but that’s only if you haven’t lived in CA, NY, MA, CT, NJ and all of the other high-tax states that have reasonable property taxes accompanied by high income taxes and high sales taxes.
Folks like Kitty assume that the people of NH are willing to trade lousy services for low taxes. Not so – what we are willing to trade is good services for low taxes! Our roads are generally good to excellent. Same with the schools (not like the states listed above). Crime is vanishingly low. Home and auto insurance is a fraction of what it is in most other states (example: in CA I had a perfect driving record and paid more to insure a Nissan Sentra in San Francisco than I pay for three more-expensive motor vehicles AND my house in NH – and the service is better, too!).
No, when it comes to the financing of services in the state of NH, most of the rest of the nation could learn a thing or two. Here’s just one: our legislators earn $100 per year. Yes, that’s right – $100 PER YEAR – and that’s the amount they’ve earned since the state was formed in the late 1700s. And you know what? I don’t think any of those legislators think that they’re going to be getting a raise during this century either!
P.S. Please don’t pass any of this on; as the only state in New England plus New York that has a growing population we’d like to keep it as quiet as possible. The more folks move in, the more this state is turning into Massachusetts. Once that happens, the party will be so over it won’t be real.
How will casino gambling help make revenue or a profit here in the state of Florida???
20.September, 2009
education only gets 15% of the lotto’s revenue/ profits!! Which it isn’t enough based on the way that things are going today!!
Supposedly when tourist come to visit and go to the casinos they spend money doing other things and we get revenue from them going to other tourist attractions and generate profits for the state.
Im looking for information on the United State Revenue System!!?
