Here you go! http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/fy2008/

Hope you have a LONG weekend coming up!

how do these numbers play as far as the current and future plans for this administration? if he has less to spend on the current progrmas, how can he fund healthcare reform? will some programs have to be cut or will taxes be raised to make up for lost revenue? thanks

the last thing i am worried about is losing tax revenue from the unemployment percentage because we are taxed to death already

i am worried about the GDP, because other countries are producing more goods at a better profit and that is where the trouble is…..if we produce less, we then spend less, which inturn lowers tax revenue….

Please use official IRS figures, and please back up your figures with good websites or other credible information. Thus, not Wikipedia.

No Wikipedia, no answers !*

Now try 1%, then 2%. What figure gives you the most tax revenue?

Any plumber can tell you about trickle down economics.

Sh*t rolls down hill.

Or, should the Federal Government borrow more to cover expenses?

Would you be willing to loan money to the Federal Government?

Charles : How much do you charge Iraq for a dead GI. Do you charge more for dead officers?

Republicans don’t care about the debt. They like to make it really big by waging war and buying lots of expensive weapons systems, and then they blame the Democrats.

Isn’t it obvious, even at the most basic level of economics concepts, if you reduce or limit "Supply" you increase costs for those mega-projects meant to improve the economy will be very inefficient, waste of money

Because all his resume has on it is Community Organizing…ACORN…Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

oh wow…how kewl…

Chi..if you want a good read on the subject take a look at Chalmers Johnson’s Trilogy. I think it starts with blowback. Take a look over a amazon the rest.

McCain is keeping the bush tax cuts. But obama wants to increase for the wealthy. With current estimate how much revenue will be increased with the new tax plan?

There is no way to tell until legislation is introduced. Any answer you get to this question will either be pure speculation or histrionic oratory.

I don’t have much to declare. But I wanted to understand it and now is October, the deadline was April and I still didn’t submit it. Please answer what do you think about it. I think it is complicated. Is that in our interest or not?

The tax system is not that complicated for virtually all taxpayers. Only a very tiny proportion of the population uses the more esoteric parts of the tax code.

Could it be simpler? I suppose it could, but that by it’s very nature limits the ability of the government to tailor the tax system so it best fits the needs of Canadians. A so called flat tax, for instance, is very simple, but it eliminates a lot of small credits and benefits that have been added to either help specific groups of people (the poor, families, etc), or was designed to target specific behaviours, supporting some while making others more expensive (adding credits for children’s sport activities, while taxing cigarettes highly are good examples.

So we can have a simple, blunt instrument, or we can have a more complicated system which allows the government to try to influence behaviour. There are arguments to be made for both. Personally, I think what we’ve got works fairly well, although it could always use tweaking.
