The Mean Median and Mode
16.April, 2010
The mean represents the average of all values represented and tells you about how well the group did as a combined unit. The median is the middle value in a set of values. It is important to note that to calculate this value, it is necessary to order the values in numeric order. The mode is the value in a group that appears most often. The range focuses on the two most extreme values at the high and low end of a set of values. The difference between the two extreme values tells you the spread of scores or in other words, the maximum variability that exist between scores.
