Many times when someone buys what they believe is a good wood office desk, it just so happens that the material used to construct the desk isn’t wood at all. At least not real solid wood that will last more than a few years.

While similar in appearance, there are obviously substantial differences, the main one being the quality of the wood. Many wood computer desks for example are made of particle board with a then veneer made to look like mahogany, oak, cherry, or birch, however of course this is not solid wood and won’t last nearly as long. Don’t buy an office desk made of wood substitutes, because in the end you may need to just buy replacements in a couple years or less.
