Tax revenue is down because people are spending less on gas, what other ways can we increase taxes?

federal, state gasoline tax revenue is way down
we need this money to fix our roads and bridges
we need othe ideas to raise taxes another way
we can tax car tires, motor oil, auto insurance
any better ideas?
I was thinking about taxing TV’s, TV cable service, beer, salty snacks such as potato chips, and Lazy-Boy recliner chairs

Tax everything that is bad for our health and we do not need.
Alcohol, Cigarettes, Soda, Candy etc…

Take taxes off everything we need.

    Tax those rich oil companies. They make billions off us with high gas prices every month.

    They can afford it. They caused this anyway.

    Tax revenue is not hurt by gas profits, and in fact people are spending MUCH more on gas. I don’t know where you get your facts, but Exxonmobil made more money this last fiscal quarter than most companies can dream of. (I believe they made the most profits as well, but I’m not certain)

    No, tax revenues are down because incomes are down. And when incomes are down, people not only pay more taxes but they often apply for government aid.

    My personal idea is to give illegal aliens citizenship for $50,000 no interest. They can pay it off gradually, but we need money and deporting them COSTS money.
